Jewellery Care Guide
What Is Brass?
Brass is a durable metal alloy made primarily from copper and zinc. It has been used for centuries in jewellery, art, architecture, and decorative objects due to its strength, versatility, and beautiful warm golden colour.
How Brass Jewellery Is Made
Every piece of brass jewellery begins with raw brass, which is carefully shaped using traditional metalworking techniques. Depending on the design, the metal may be cut, cast, hammered, textured, soldered, or hand-formed before being refined and polished.
Many handcrafted pieces undergo several stages of finishing, including filing, sanding, polishing, and detailing to achieve their final appearance.
How to Care for Your Jewellery
A little care goes a long way in preserving the beauty of your piece.
Brass is a natural metal that reacts to its environment. Exposure to water, moisture, perfumes, lotions, and chemicals can cause the surface to develop a darker patina over time. This is completely normal and part of the beauty of the material.
To keep your jewellery looking its best, we recommend avoiding prolonged contact with water and moisture.
We recommend:
- Removing jewellery before showering, swimming, or exercising.
- Avoiding prolonged contact with perfumes, lotions, hairsprays, soap, hand santisers and cleaning products.
- Storing pieces in a dry place, preferably in a jewellery pouch or box.
- Wiping jewellery with a soft cloth after wearing to remove oils and moisture.
The Beauty of a Living Metal
Unlike stainless steel, which is designed to remain largely unchanged, brass is a living material that responds to its surroundings.Every mark, shade, and patina tells the story of a piece that has been worn, loved, and uniquely yours.
